The world of aesthetic treatments can feel a little intimidating at times. While many of us are accustomed to hearing about injectables like botulinum toxin or dermal filler, there are a whole host of other treatments available, many of which are brand spanking new to market. Be it modern devices, ingenious techniques, products or systems, this is a world that is ever evolving.

Polynucleotide treatment 

Dr Ahmed El Muntasar, GP and aesthetician, describes this as “a new treatment growing in popularity,” which works to “brighten the under-eye area and improve the texture of skin.” The skin-boosting injectable is made of purified fragments of fish DNA, which initiate the body’s natural fibroblast production, thus helping to stimulate collagen in the skin, as well as attracting water molecules – meaning hydration is also improved overall.

The injectable derives from an interesting source, as Dr El Muntasar explains: “injectable polynucleotides are usually always sourced from the sperm of salmon or trout,” he begins, before adding: “I actually use salmon-derived polynucleotide, as research is showing that this form is a lot more pure and potent, leading to better results.”

The treatment is ideal for anybody wishing to see skin looking and feeling fresher, smoother, and more hydrated. Dr El Muntasar also points out this is a great option for those who are not candidates for things like tear trough filler.

At Dr El Muntasar’s clinic, the treatment is administered in two to three sessions costing £350 each, and treatments can yield results lasting from six to 12 months, or longer.

Ellanse

Another injectable Dr El Muntasar has been noticing huge growth in dermal filler Ellanse. As well as for use on the face, this youth-booster works wonders on other areas of the body. “People are becoming more conscious of how their body is ageing and are seeking out treatments for their whole body so it matches their face and neck,” he explains. “The hands can often give away signs of ageing, so I think treatments like Ellanse will become more prevalent – it’s by far the best treatment for hands as it fills the lack of volume, induces collagen, and smoothes out the skin.”

The product has a gel-like texture with microspheres and when injected, these are “evenly distributed to fill the areas of the skin that are affected by volume loss.” Not only does it have an immediate impact, it also works to boost natural collagen production in the long-term, and lasts between 19 months to 5 years. Thanks to the longer-term benefits, you are able to avoid costly repeat visits.

Injectable lip balm 

If you seem to eternally struggle with dry, cracked lips, this new treatment recommended by aesthetic doctor Christine Hall from the Taktouk Clinic, may just be the answer to your woes.

An injectable made from hyaluronic acid, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it’s a skin booster rather than a filler, and works to hydrate the lips from within. A by-product of this new found hydration is an increase in plumpness and volume, which is “good for people who are a little apprehensive of lip filler, or who want to see what it could look like first,” says Hall.

The treatment doesn’t last as long as filler (meaning more regular appointments), but makes for a good introduction into lip injectables, particularly if you struggle with hydration.

CoolPeel laser 

New technology has led to developments in Co2 lasers, which aesthetic doctor and founder of the Taktouk Clinic, Wassim Taktouk, is incredibly excited about. “Traditional Co2 lasers introduce a lot of heat to skin, but this new tech prevents that from happening, hence its name,” shares Taktouk. As a result, a lot less downtime is needed for this laser procedure.

The laser works by creating channels in the skin, which develop into small areas of trauma. The body then responds to the ‘trauma,’ producing collagen and elastin, and sending healing factors such as amino acids and growth factors. This aids in resurfacing skin and targeting enlarged pores, scarring and hyperpigmentation. On certain settings, it can also help to tighten the skin too.

NCTF Revitalisation

NCTF, which stands for ‘New Cellular Treatment Factor’ is the latest treatment for skin rejuvenating, addressing various signs of ageing, according to doctor Raquel Amado founder of the Skin and Medical Cosmetics Clinic.

Usually comprising of a series of injections, the formulation consists of “a cocktail of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, coenzymes, and hyaluronic acid,” shares Amado. “These components are essential for skin health, and they play a crucial role in rejuvenating the skin,” she adds.

During appointments, micro-injections targeting the middle layer of the skin are administered, with the goal being to stimulate collagen production, improve hydration, and boost overall skin health. After a course Amado says you’ll see a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, volumne and a major improvement in tone and texture.
