You'll want to make this new eye tech your focus in 2022

Perk up your peepers with our round up of the best new at home and in clinic eye product technology

From the Fox Eye trend to flicked eyeliner, eyes have been a focus of ours for a while now, especially as wearing face masks has, through no fault of their own, propelled them into the spotlight.

By default, we’re now spending more time analysing this particular facial feature – and we bet we’re not the only ones thinking about what we want to improve, be it brighter skin, fine lines, de-puffing or even just a fresher appearance.

Eye health shouldn't take a back seat, however – according to Consultant Oculoplastic and Ophthalmic Surgeon Miss Elizabeth Hawkes of The Cadogan Clinic in London, the resolutions we should be focussing on this year are our eyes.

"A healthy eye has a clear cornea (front window of the eye) and white non inflamed coat (conjunctiva overlying sclera)," explains Dr Hawkes. "The view through the cornea reveals a round pupil which should be equal in size in both eyes. The eyelids and lashes surround the eye in order to protect it."

Dr Hawkes recommends that you visit your optician regularly and get your eyes tested every two years – an in depth examination can detect a range of conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, eye cancer and brain tumours.

Here at EV, we like to keep an eye on the latest tech and have rounded up some at home products that we rate, along with an aesthetics game changer that should be on your radar.

Revitalash Lash & Brow Masque

Have your lashes or brows suffered damage due to over-styling, makeup usage or professional lash or brow services? This world-first aims to follow in the footsteps of the brand’s award-winning lash growth serum, one of which is sold every 30 seconds. The one-of-a-kind formula utilises tubing technology, coating each individual hair in ultra-nourishing ingredients, and encapsulates powerhouse botanicals to repair and restore lash and brow health. The masque is said to repair damaged, compromised hair by infusing it with nutrient rich botanicals, while working to promote the look of healthier, shinier, more flexible hairs. Ingredients include Vitamin E, conditioning biotin, hydrating trehalose and strengthening tri-flora complex.

Dr Harris Anti-Wrinkle Mask from CurrentBody

A natural, painless way to target dynamic wrinkles, this launched last year and sold out instantly. With more than 17,000 sensory receptors reported in the human face that respond to stimulation, the patented technology of the mask mimics the effects of anti-wrinkle injections and is proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The raised silicone dots on the mask stimulate receptors on the face that calm brain activity, causing muscles to relax and emotions to calm. Just 15 minutes of wear is said to give visible results, particularly in the furrowed brow area, that can last up to five hours.

Peep Show Heated Eye Wand

Do you suffer from dry, irritated eyes? This has been described as a ‘game changer’ and ‘like a hot stone massage for your eyes’ by customers. The innovative gadget has three settings that work to soothe, hydrate and smooth dry, tired eyes. Heating up in under 60 seconds, the warm compress helps to gently unblock the tiny Meibomian glands that line the upper and lower lids – a cause of dry eye symptoms such as redness, itchiness and tiredness, especially for frequent screen users. This helps eyes to stay naturally more hydrated throughout the day. There’s also a massage feature that helps to promote lymphatic drainage and de-puff eyelids, and LED light which promotes collagen and elastin production.

Priori Ultimate Eye Crème

Blending science with the green plant technology of organic spinach leaves,  this luxury eye cream combines the natural power of R-Spinasome® with the collagen booster paracress extract, broad spectrum antioxidants, and meadowfoam seed oil. The rich cream-balm is clinically proven to improve eye contour skin firmness and enhance hydration while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s pricey, but a little goes a long way.

“R-Spinasome is the one little green molecule that is changing the face of skincare, because it is where science meets nature to create results-driven products like never before,” said Regis Haberkorn, President of Priori Skincare.

Juvapen Expert

A result of 10 years of research and development, Juvapen Expert is the latest innovation designed specifically for administering botulinum toxin injections such as Botox. Compatible with all botulinum toxin brands, the robotic syringe technology allows for consistency of results, key for both practitioners and customers. In addition, the majority of patients have found Juvapen injections less painful than manual injections.

“The key to successful treatments with toxin is to ensure consistency in terms of dosage and site of injection,” says Mr Daniel Ezra, eye surgeon at Neo Health Clinic, Harley Street. “Unfortunately, there is an inherent variability between the way that dosing is provided even by the same practitioner. This unique piece of technology helps to significantly improve repeatability and reliability of injection dosing to ensure the best outcomes.”
