Aesthetics innovators launch new generation injectables for face and body

We reveal the latest injectables set to shake up the aesthetics space, including a first-of-its-kind filler for the body

Two innovative new injectables have launched into the aesthetics sphere which we're quite excited about – MaiLi, a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler which uses less product than traditional fillers, and Lanluma, an industry-first collagen stimulating filler for the body.

So what's so special about these clever new tweakments? We put them under the spotlight:

MaiLi

MaiLi uses 24 per cent less filler compared to other leading brands – it is the only hyaluronic acid filler where less product means greater fullness, flexibility and natural movement, akin to youthful skin.

One of its key USP’s is that it claims to last for up to one year in lips, saving time between top ups, and doesn't spread in this region.

There are four products within the portfolio, with HA concentrations of between 15 and 24mg for specific areas of the face:

  • Precise: For fine lines and wrinkles, as well as the tear tough area for eye bags and dark circles. Precise can also reconstruct areas with scar tissue.
  • Define: For lip volume and filling deep wrinkles. Define lifts eyebrows and smoothes marionette lines. It can also reconstruct areas with scar tissue.
  • Volume: Rejuvenates lost volume and vitality, while shaping features. Adds volume to cheeks and temples, it also contours the face and can be used for volume loss associated with HIV.
  • Extreme: For dramatic volume and definition. Extreme can sculpt and reshape the face, enhance cheeks, chin and jawline and balance profiles. Extreme can be used for volume loss associated with HIV.

Lanluma

Hailing from the same stable as collagen stimulating facial filler Ellansé, Lanluma is a collagen stimulating filler for the body – the only one of its kind on the market today.

Formulated to reshape and contour large areas, it can be used to treat the upper arms, hips, thighs, hands, décolletage and buttocks – it can also be used to reduce the signs of cellulite and wrinkles.

The versatile biodegradable filler can also be used on the face to add volume and compensate for age-related tissue and bone loss which causes lines and sagging, as well as the hands.

Lanluma is made from Poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) which has been used in medical products for over 30 years so has a strong safety record. PLLA induces collagen production and fibroblast (connective tissue cell) proliferation by stimulating the body’s inflammatory response, with minimal risk of reactions.

The skin’s own collagen production helps to restore its inner structure and shape.  The injected filler is absorbed by the body, and then over time the new reshaped appearance emerges.  This means the results are not instant, but when they become apparent, they look convincing and realistic.

Depending on the size of the area of concern, two-four treatments are performed four-six weeks apart. Patients are then asked to massage the area post-treatment for best results.

Because the treatment stimulates new collagen production, the results last for more than two years, which is far longer than conventional HA filler results.
