Must-try treatments for a new year refresh

We asked the experts what treatments they would recommend for those seeking a start-of-year refresh

After a full-on festive season, and some time to take stock of your new year goals, a skin refresh is more than likely high-up on your wish list for 2025. However, with a plethora of treatments to choose from, figuring out what’s going to give you the most bang for your buck is no easy feat.

Luckily for you, we’ve asked our trusted experts what treatments they’d recommend for a refresh and here’s what they had to say…

Exosomes 2.0

Exosomes have taken the world of aesthetics by storm, and for good reason. Facilitating intercellular communication, delivering bioactive molecules, and modulating immune responses, they make for impressive skin regeneration, wound healing, and treating dermatological disorders. Exosomes don’t just work wonders on the skin, but the scalp too, and in turn, the hair. And when they are supercharged with polynucleotides, biomimetic peptides and plant-derived stem cells, as seen in the Exosignal Hair treatment solution, you really notice a difference in your hair health. Designed to optimise the growth cycle by reducing the time between the telogen (resting) and anagen (growth) phases, this treatment effectively stimulates hair growth and slows hair loss. Applied via microneedling to maximise absorption into the scalp, it is effective for a variety of hair loss conditions, including androgenic alopecia, telogen effluvium, and alopecia areata. It’s also suitable for post-chemotherapy hair restoration and works across all hair and scalp types. You can expect reduced hair shedding and healthier scalp conditions within weeks—over a three-to-six-month period, you should notice improved hair density, thickness, and texture.

Fast-acting toxin

While muscle relaxing injectables have long been the most popular injectable treatment on the market, there’s no instant gratification when it comes to the line smoother, as typically, patients have had to wait up to two weeks to see the results—until now. Alluzience is a newly available version of botulinum toxin that comes with strong data, showing that the onset of reduction of movement starts 24 hours post-injection, and generally lasts approximately five months, instead of the standard three. For patients with a busy schedule, cutting the appointments required nearly in half by switching to this toxin can be a game changer, and it offers a quicker refresh than any other botulinum toxin on the market.

The future is now

Powered by Quantum Molecular Resonance (QMR) technology, Rexonage 3 is most definitely the future of regenerative skin treatments. Using electrical signals, this device is designed to reverse visible signs of ageing while promoting long-term skin vitality. Unlike laser and radio frequency devices, Rexonage 3 stimulates mesenchymal stem cells to proliferate and regenerate tissue, without generating heat. This process avoids thermal damage, making it a safe, cutting-edge solution for all skin types and tones. The device targets the skin's stem cells encouraging them to divide, producing new cells for tissue renewal and repair, as well as collagen and elastin production. Highly effective at reducing wrinkles, improving texture, firming lax skin, and addressing conditions like acne, melasma, and dermatitis, it can be enjoyed by adults of all ages, skin types and tones and offers a noticeable youth-boost to the skin with no downtime or discomfort.

Plump it up

Having taken a leading role in launching Profhilo Structura following my part in the UK study, I have now included this new offering at my clinic. Profhilo Structura contains the highest concentration of pure hyaluronic acid in any injectable, and when placed into the subcutaneous fat (superficial fat layer under the skin) it works to restore, repair and rejuvenate fat tissue. This is a real game-changer when it comes to restoring facial structure sans dermal filler. As we age, we lose fat in the face, but this injectable encourages fat cells to mimic the behaviour of their youth to produce and keep hold of fat, instead of losing it. Results show a smoother, lifted and extremely natural yet refreshed look which works particularly well at lifting jowls and smoothing periauricular hollows (found just in front of the ear). It's delivered in a course of two sessions, four weeks apart, with best results seen two-three months post your last treatment.

There’s also another way to plump up the skin while still looking very natural, and that’s with Cellenis DermaFiller. This 100 per cent natural product has nothing added to it, it’s just made from your own blood which is spun to separate the platelet part from the unwanted blood cells. The platelet-poor fraction is heated to create a matrix through which the platelet-rich cells are infiltrated. In total, 10-12ml of natural dermal filler can be created from a single blood sample. Using my Thames uplift treatment technique that lifts and replaces lost volume, patients see extremely natural yet noticeable results. Complexions are refreshed and skin is softer, smoother, more youthful and rejuvenated. All it takes are two treatments, spaced two to three months apart.

Polynucleotide cocktail

Made up of purified fragments of fish DNA extracted from salmon sperm, polynucleotide treatments have been making waves over the last two years. They trigger the body’s own regeneration and repair processes to reduce inflammation and stimulate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production. I like to combine this powerful molecule with NCTF. A mesotherapy-based skin booster, it contains a cocktail of 60 essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid. It is designed to enhance skin hydration, tone, and radiance, and when combined with the Plinest polynucleotides, these results are turbocharged.

I like to administer both through micro-injections into the dermis, to deliver a uniform distribution of both products into target areas such as under eyes, face, neck, and décolleté. The treatment requires minimal downtime, with sessions spaced about two to four weeks apart for optimal results. Suitable for all skin types and tones, this treatment is ideal for individuals seeking to prevent or treat lines, wrinkles, sagging, dehydration, redness, pigmentation and dullness. Visible results typically emerge after two to three sessions and continue to improve with subsequent treatments. It’s perfect for those who want a refresh that looks ‘natural’ and doesn’t add volume.
