The sweat slayer
Using botulinum toxin injections to treat underarm sweating, otherwise known as hyperhidrosis, is nothing new, but some patients may feel that the duration of effectiveness isn’t enough to justify the cost. Not anymore, thanks to the recent introduction of Alluzience, an advanced botulinum toxin which works faster and lasts a good couple of months longer than other brands of toxin, making it ideal for the underarm area—we’ve tried it for ourselves, and can testify that it does what it says on the tin. If you’re a fan of toxin, you’ll also be interested to hear that it can also be used in the more traditional manner to treat facial lines, folds and wrinkles. It’s injected just under the skin with a small needle, and feels a tad 'pinchier' than other toxin treatments. It normally takes on average two-to-three days to work—although results can be seen as early as 24 hours after treatment—compared to up to a week. In frown lines, results can last for up to six months; when it comes to treating underarm sweating, you can expect to stay dry for more than six months.Book it: Jenny Doyle at The Clinic, Holland Park, London
The de-puffer
Compression technology, also known as pressotherapy, is a really effective—not to mention relaxing—method of targeting water retention and puffiness, especially in the lower body and legs. The latest treatment, Lymphastim, is designed to stimulate the lymphatic circulation in the abdomen and legs, which in turn helps to minimise the appearance of cellulite, relax the muscles and decrease swelling and water retention. Just one session is ideal for a quick fix; for sustained results, book in for weekly sessions. Simply slip into the trouser-like inflatable compression garment, lie back and let the pneumatic compression do its thing, rhymically inflating and deflating, a bit like a blood pressure cuff. There’s no downtime, and you’ll leave the clinic feeling a bit lighter and with a spring in your step. It’s also a great combination treatment to have alongside treatments such as Emtone or Emsculpt Neo.Book it: Montrose Clinic, London
The slimming shot
Another groundbreaking leg wonder worker is Hollywood Legs, which uses strategic micro injections of botulinum toxin in a number of areas around the calf, to elongate and enhance the silhouette. Toxin helps relax the calf muscle, otherwise known as the gastrocnemius—this results in a gradual reduction in the size of the muscle, making it appear less bulky and more slender. It's a good option for those who cannot seem to get the desired results by exercise alone. When toxin is used for body contouring, it lasts longer than when used in the overworked facial muscles. After the first treatment you will see a great result which will last between six-to-eight months; usually only one treatment is needed, and it can be repeated after eight months.Book it: Dr Ivy or nurse Claudia Brand, 111 Harley St, London
