Jojoba oil skincare is having a moment – but is it right for your skin? We round up some of the best products that work from top to toe

It’s been around for centuries and is a staple in many peoples’ summer holiday toiletries bags, but jojoba oil skincare is finally having a moment and we can’t say we’re surprised.
Pronounced ho-ho-ba, this natural anti-inflammatory and emollient ingredient diminishes redness, repairs the
skin barrier and keeps skin calm and comfortable. It is found in a plethora of products from aftersun to hydrating serums and scrubs (usually formulated with jojoba beads), and pairs well with other ingredients, in particular moisturisers and hydrators.
The best thing about this ingredient is its skin compatibility: being close to your skin’s naturally produced oils, it’s mild and gentle, and can be used by everyone including those with
sensitive, reactive, dry, and
eczema and acne-prone skin.
There are many ways to use jojoba oil, and as well as opting for 100 per cent pure jojoba oil to use as a moisturiser, you can also find it in
jojoba oil skincare products that work to nourish and condition from head to toe.
The pro polish
AlumierMD MicroDerm Polish
Give skin an at-home
microdermabrasion treatment with this invigorating polish which exfoliates and retexturises. The formula includes conditioning agents to maintain the skin’s natural hydrolipid barrier; 100 per cent biodegradable jojoba particles; glycerin, and hydrated silica exfoliating powder. "While you might associate hydration purely with serums and moisturisers, it is important to note that hydration can also come from exfoliants and masks,” says Aesthetic Skincare expert Dr Benji Dhillon. “MicroDerm Polish is formulated with glycerin, a powerful humectant that draws water into the skin, so while jojoba esters and hydrated silica buff away dead skin, glycerine hydrates, soothes and plumps.”
The serum
Medik8 C-Tetra Lipid Vitamin C Radiance Serum
This cult vitamin C serum, which features stabilised
vitamin C that is gentle on both sensitive skins and those new to the ingredient, effectively delivers visible brightening results. The jojoba-oil infused serum works to give skin a boost of radiance, promoting an enviable glow in as little as seven days. Vitamin E is also included for essential protection against free radicals caused by sun exposure.
The scrub

When mixed with water, the oil forms a milky emulsion that removes stubborn makeup and impurities.
The body wash
Jane Scrivner Intense Conditioning Body Cleanser
We tend to only apply skincare to approximately 11 per cent of our skin – nearer 5 per cent if only down to the jawline. This leaves nearly 90 per cent of our skin
dehydrated and undernourished. Featuring a gel-to-milk formulation and anti-inflammatory organic jojoba oil for repair and damage control, this nourishing body cleanser also contains smoothing apricot, moisturising camelina, hydrating pumpkin and nourishing starflower.
The after sun
Avene After Sun Restorative Lotion
Ideal for sensitive and sun-exposed skin, this soothing, milky moisturiser provides long-lasting hydration for up to 48 hours, while
restoring the skin’s barrier. Along with jojoba oil, antioxidants and Avene's Thermal Spring Water which is sourced from a spring in the south of France, the silica-rich composition is clinically proven to reduce skin sensitivity by 30 per cent, lower skin temperature by 2°C in three minutes, and provide 55 per cent less discomfort.
